Beverly Powell's Professional Growth Plan

Beliefs about Teaching and Using Technology
Throughout my profession I have accessed oportunities to participate in technology initiatives. Through these experiences I have been able to collaborate and learn not only from my peers, but also leadership in curriculum and technology related areas of education. It is important for teachers to embrace the technology that we have access to and utilize it to create an inquiry based learning atmosphere in our classrooms. As we work to address the curriculum standards, using technology can be a tool to meeting a student's individual learning styles and abilities. It is imperative that we differentiate our instruction to meet our student's needs to improve student achievement. Incorporating technology can provide opportunities for our auditory, visual and kinestetic learners.

Beliefs about my Professional Development and Practice
As a teacher, I continue my growth with technology through professional development opportunities. As I attend these trainings I become more efficient with the applications I have available in my classroom. These trainings also offer opportunies to collaborate with my peers both at my grade level and across grades. Working with my peers make it possible to discuss ways to integrate the curriculum with technology to meet the needs of my students. I will continue to raise the expectations for myself and my students by continuing to not only learn more in the area of technology, but also, be a support for my colleagues.

Evaluation of my Technology Initiative
There will be several aspects of the evaluation component of my technology initiative. Informal conversations will take place throughout the year to obtain feedback from teachers regarding the professional development being offered. Regularly sheduled meetings will take place with the technology initiative group to provide opportunities for teachers to give suggestions and input regarding the topics availability and ease of using the professional development resource. At the end of the school year, the survey that was given during the early stages of the initiative will be distributed again to teachers and results will be reviewed by the technology initiative committee.
